Volunteers of the Month
Diane & David ALLISON
Diane and David ALLISON are recognized for outstanding volunteer support for the period of April 2026 to May 2026. Keeping up the outside aesthetic view of the Post, Diane and David ALLISON contributed more than 70 hours of ground care maintenance over the last few months. The ALLISONs spent time clearing the parking lot of leave and debris, edging walkways, mowing grass, trimming bushes, and weeding. In addition, David serviced the riding lawn mower and brought it back to operational status. He also replaced drive belts and the cutting blades, saving the Post several hundreds of dollars in parts and repair labor costs. The ALLISON's perseverance, commitment, and dedication are most heartily commended in keeping with the mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The Post has placed a BLUE Volunteer of the Month submission box in the front lobby. Any member of Post 2995, Post 161, Auxiliary 2995, Auxiliary 161, the 82nd Airborne Association, or a member of the Association of the U.S. Army, may nominate a Volunteer.
Help recognize those individuals who donate their time supporting Post events, cleaning or maintaining the Post, assisting in kitchen/dining operations, or participating in Veteran/Families community outreach programs.
The nomination needs to capture the Volunteer’s efforts, number of hours/days worked, or financial aid donated or collected for Post 2995 in the preceding two months. Nominations are due by the 15th of each month.

(Efforts:) Jane volunteered to clean the clubroom restrooms every Tuesday. She spent 1 1/2 hours each weekly visit for the months of May and June for a total of 13.5 hours. Jane sanitized all the fixtures, restocked paper products, emptied the trash, wiped down all horizontal and vertical surfaces, and mopped the floors. Additionally, she replaced burnt out light bulbs to ensure adequate lighting inside the facilities.

Volunteer of the Year
Sheri SALO
Ms. Sheri SALO is recognized for outstanding volunteer support for the period of January 2025 to December 2025. Auxiliary President and Life member Sheri SALO actively participated and supported a multitude VFW and Post 2995 events. Volunteering over 100 hours throughout the year, Ms. SALO was involved with the Patriotic Art Awards, Karin Ridge’s Memorial Service, the Post’s fallen heroes’ memorials, the 2024 Youth Essay awards, the Fisher House paper drive and Christmas Stocking gifts, and Santa’s Castle Backpack drive. In the clubroom, Ms. SALO assisted in meal service for several large events. Each event showcased the VFW’s and Auxiliary’s commitment to promote Patriotism, honor the Veteran community, and aid Veteran families. Ms. SALO’s perseverance, commitment, and dedication are most heartily commended in keeping with the mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Volunteer of the Year
Char ARNOTT
Ms. Char ARNOTT is recognized for outstanding volunteer support for the period of January 2024 to December 2024. Committed to the members' social well-being, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 161 member Ms. ARNOTT was a staple on the Friday night Bingo Team and volunteered more than 150 hours through the year. Furthermore, with new accounting procedures and game management regulations instituted by the State of Washington Gambling Commission, Ms. ARNOTT was a crucial component in accurately tracking over 48,000 ticket sales and dispersing winnings in excess of $62,000.00 to ensure Bing play ran smoothly and efficiently each Friday night. Ms. ARNOTT's perseverance, commitment, and dedication are most heartily commended in keeping with the mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Volunteer of the Year
Judy LOGEN
Ms. Judy LOGEN is recognized for outstanding volunteer support for the period of January 2023 to December 2023. A staple in kitchen operations, she provided more than 100 hours of culinary support in preparing meals for large events that included Valentine’s, St Patrick’s day, Oktoberfest, and Thanksgiving dinners, and the Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Summer Party cookouts to ensure plenty of meals were available to dining patrons. Adding to the members’ enjoyment, Ms. LOGEN arranged for her Jazz Band to play the authentic sounds of New Orleans for the Post’s Mardi Gras party. Finally, Ms. LOGEN enhanced the dining room’s appearance by volunteering over 48 hours decorating the clubroom with seasonal attire to provide members with welcoming visual stimulations. Ms. LOGEN’s perseverance, commitment, and dedication are most heartily commended in keeping with the mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Ann UNGER
Ms. Ann UNGER is recognized for outstanding volunteer support from January 2022 to December 2022. Volunteering at every opportunity, Ms. UNGER was a staple in the Post's community service events. Dedicating more than 60 hours throughout the year, she assisted in the operations, food service, recruitment, and clean up for such events as the Easter Brunch & Egg Hunt, the Summer Recruitment Drive, the Kids' Halloween House, and the Breakfast with Santa & Toys-for-Tots drive. With an experienced 'green thumb', Ms. UNGER took the initiative and started the weekly floriculture of the Clubroom's and Foley Hall's entrance planters. Spending more than 70 hours, she planted and cultivated various floral arrangements to beautify the area and enhance the visual experience for the membership. Ms. UNGER's perseverance, commitment, and dedication are most heartily commended in keeping with the mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
2021
Volunteer of the Year
Lynn LOGEN
Auxiliarist Lynn LOGEN is recognized for outstanding volunteer support from January 2021 to December 2021. Volunteering at every opportunity, he was a staple in culinary assistance when needed and committed to 15 hours cooking and serving for the Memorial Day, Independence Day, and 9/11 Commemoration events, providing over 180 meals. In addition, Mr. LOGEN aided in meal services for Legion Post 161's Installation dinner and Civil Air Patrol's Awards Dining Out for more than 120 people. A constant at Bingo, Mr. LOGEN helped the Bingo team with more than 84 hours throughout the year in game operations each Friday evening. Finally, Mr. LOGEN took on additional volunteering challenges by joining Troop Support whereby he assisted in inventory control and planning operations. Mr. LOGEN's perseverance, commitment, and dedication are most heartily commended in keeping with the mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Greg HAM
Comrade HAM is recognized for outstanding volunteer support for the year 2020. A VFW Life Member, he actively supported Post 2995 activities and VFW programs in a challenging year of a pandemic outbreak. As the Post navigated through COVID-19 social distancing and operating restrictions, Comrade HAM volunteered close to 200 hours by providing his culinary skills in the kitchen, reducing the clubroom’s operating costs and ensuring food service was available as required by State mandate. In addition, Comrade HAM provided another 25 hours of his time completing minor maintenance and groundskeeping duties to further reduced the operating overhead costs of the Post. Comrade HAM’s perseverance, commitment, and dedication are most heartily commended in keeping with the mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Volunteer of the Year
Jenn LeMOND
Ms. LeMOND is recognized for outstanding volunteer support for 2019. A member of the Association of the US Army and Veteran advocator, she actively supported Post 2995 activities and VFW programs. Assisting in meal services, Ms. LeMOND, dedicated over 75 hours serving supper for Bingo Fridays and the monthly Fly Fishermen’s dinners ensuring timely delivery cuisine courses. Throughout the year, Ms LeMOND collected over $200.00 for our Buddy Poppy drives, raised $3,000.00 by hosting a Bingo fundraiser for Post improvement projects, provided free computer training, resolved software issues, and donated a computer to give online access for members without computers. Finally, she helped to recruit six new members to the Post. Ms. LeMOND’s perseverance, commitment, and dedication are most heartily commended in keeping with the mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Volunteer of the Year
Marilyn SHAY
Ms. SHAY is recognized for outstanding volunteer support for 2018. Currently serving as Auxiliary Unit 2995’s Senior Vice, Ms. SHAY provided more the 112 hours of volunteer support throughout the year. A regular in the kitchen, she both prepared and served meals for many various functions within Post 2995’s clubroom such as Friday Night Bingo, Holiday Brunches, Pancake Breakfast Drives, and the Fly Fisherman dinners. In addition, Ms. SHAY assisted Post 2995’s WWI Monument Historian in locating ten WWI monuments within Washington State and having them cleaned, repaired, or restored, as well as properly registered with the National Memorial Foundation. Ms. SHAY’s perseverance, commitment, and dedication are most heartily commended in keeping with the mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
2017
Volunteer of the Year
Tony PUTNAM
Mr. PUTNAM is recognized for outstanding volunteer support for 2017. A Navy Veteran, he is dedicated to improving the Post’s visibility in the community. As a rifleman on the Honor Guard Team, he volunteered over 600 hours conducting more than 20 memorial services throughout the year and during Post Poppy Drives, he collected $575.00 for the program. Mr. PUTNAN reliably called Bingo in excess of 125 hours each Friday night and dependably served more than 500 meals for the 5-Star dinner every 3rd Tuesday. His behind the scenes work included over 200 hours of grounds work, painting, and other small maintenance tasks that keep the Post presentable. Mr. PUTNAM’s perseverance, commitment, and dedication are most heartily commended in keeping with the mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
